ForCA is a collaborative network of the Judicial Boarding Institutions (JJI's), the Netherlands Institute for Forensic Psychiatry and Psychology(NIFP), forensic juvenile mental health care (GGz) and university centers. If adolescents commit serious crimes, they will have to deal with a lot of people and institutions. Each of these people has their own idea about these adolescents and the crimes committed by the latter from their own perspective, and each of them tries to contribute to the best of their ability, taking into account the interests of the adolescents, society and the victim(s). But what is the situation concerning judicial involvement with juvenile offenders who suffer from a mental disorder? Is that mental disorder recognized and will it be diagnosed and treated adequately? And if that is not the case: what could be improved? What to do if treatment is not going according to plan? And where do these adolescents end up once they return to society? It is hard to give an answer to all these questions, as the relevant data, knowledge and expertise are unavailable or too fragmented
